The studio silversmith Alex Brogden has been developing his ideas and techniques for almost twenty years.
Best known for his fluid use of line, his objects integrate refined surface with strong form in an often powerfully graphic way.
Working alone, he has been able to use the many commissioned pieces he has made to explore abstract forms born from a preoccupation with natural things.
Alongside these works he produces a flow of more purely sculptural pieces for exhibition.
Exhibiting internationally, in the Far East, across Europe and in America, his work is in many public and private collections. In Britain these include the Victoria and Albert Museum, The Crafts Council Collection and the Goldsmiths’ Company Modern Collection, as well as the collections of several Cathedrals,Livery companies, Cambridge universities and the Silver Trust Collection for 10 Downing Street.
He is currently silver advisor on the Modern Collection committee of the Goldsmiths Company whose collection of contemporary work is the largest in Britain.
